Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS, 2015) with RICS Conservation Accreditation (2019). Project design, fieldwork and desk research for 16th and 17th century history in the Rulewater area of the Scottish Borders from 1992 to present. Research framework, project management and series editor for HES technical guidance 2010 - to present (subjects include historic renders and finishes, evolution of architectural finishes, energy efficiency and climate change adaptation). Managed site trials and reporting on traditional approaches to historic building repair; 37 projects from 2008. Board Member and Chair of the Technical Committee for HMS Unicorn 2016-2019 - development of conservation and docking approach for a historic vessel built 1824. Member of the Army Reserve Cultural Property Protection Unit from 2019 and Commander of the Unit from October 2021.
