Grounds for election

Cathie Barnett (neé Chisham) is a valuable contributor to important archaeological research and now a senior consultant, influencing archaeological strategy at a national level. While studying for her PhD at Reading, she engaged with teaching and research, forging collaborations that last to the present day. At Wessex Archaeology as Principal Archaeological Scientist (2004-14) her publication record began to reflect the extent of research and developer-led work she was involved with. Returning to Reading (2014-19) as Senior Research Fellow and Co-Director of the Silchester Environs Project, Cathie was integral to the successes of this renowned archaeological research project, sharing responsibility for devising and implementing strategies. Now Technical Director at Stantec UK, she effectively bridges academic and commercial archaeology, having published 70 works to date. She is a positive force for the profession and discipline, and would be a considerable asset to the Society.
