Dr Aimone is a leading authority on the art and archaeology of the Late Antique, Byzantine and Early Medieval periods, especially in Italy. He has taught at the University of Turin, been a Fellow at Dumbarton Oaks, Washington DC, and is now engaged in a scholarly catalogue of Migration period artefacts in the Wyvern Collection, London. His many publications include 'Il tesoro di Desana' (BAR international series, Oxford 2010), 'Il tesoro di Canoscio' (Rome, 2015), 'Inscriptiones Christianae Italiae, 17' (Bari, 2016), and 'The Wyvern Collection: Byzantine and Sasanian Silver, Enamels and Works of Art' (London, 2020)
