Grounds for election

Dr Suzanne Paul undertakes and facilitates field-defining research into the history of European printed books and manuscripts. As co-editor of the four-volume Repertorium of Middle English Prose Sermons, which made available over 1,000 Middle English sermons of the 1300s and 1400s. As sub-librarian of the Parker Library, Corpus Christi, Cambridge, her expertise and contributions played a key role in making the world’s largest collections of early English manuscripts publicly accessible online. As Medieval Manuscripts Specialist and now Keeper of Rare Books and Early Manuscripts, Cambridge University Library, and as a scholar of medieval preaching, she has pioneered new applications of the digital humanities to the understanding and curation of rare texts. In addition to her own published research, her substantial contributions to scholarship including widening scholarly access to vast swaths of European textual heritage, especially medieval manuscripts and early printed material.
