Grounds for election

Dr Ken Emond is an expert in Scottish history, especially in the 1500s, and Head of Research Funding at the British Academy. His recent book on the minority of James V argues that a tumultuous moment in early modern Scottish politics should be understood from a broader European perspective, not least due to French and English interests in the power struggle. Its significant contributions to scholarship in fields including royal studies and early modern studies include modelling an internationalising methodology for re-assessing Scottish politics and kingship during this period. Through his work at the British Academy, he promotes and facilitates research, including on antiquarian topics, on an internationally significant scale.
