Alistair has over 34 years experience as an archaeologist, working for a variety of fieldwork units, principally in London, most recently with PCA from 1996 onwards. Alistair has run some high profile projects, including the Tobacco Dock and Shadwell Bathhouse sites, Bermondsey Abbey, Holywell Priory Shoreditch, the Olympic Park, and the Clarendon shopping centre in Oxford. He has also worked abroad, in the UAE, Albania and Principe. Alistair has lectured for a wide range of local societies in the London area, and has run courses at Oxford University Department of Continuing Education. Alistair has led community archaeological works in Southwark, and since 2018 he has been involved with the Waterloo Uncovered charity, which uses archaeology as a way of helping veterans and serving military personnel recovering from physical and mental injury. Alistair’s current work also focusses on continuing to provide safe, competent and rewarding archaeological fieldwork methodologies.
