Christy Constantakopoulou is Professor of Classics and Ancient History at Birkbeck College, University of London. After graduating at the Universities of Athens and London, she completed her D.Phil. in Oxford on insularity in the Greek world, the basis of her first monograph, Dance of the Islands (2007). This influential work has been followed by studies of leagues of cities and other communities in ancient Greece beyond the standard few famous centres. She approaches these through the investigation of Aegean networks (Aegean Interactions, 2017), human–landscape encounters, and the construction and uses of memory, her most recent co-edited volume being Shaping Memory in Ancient Greece published in 2020. She is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, and has served on the councils and committees of many academic organizations including the British School at Athens, Institute of Classical Studies (London), Society for Cycladic Studies (Athens), and Society for Classical Studies (USA).
