Dr Petzold has lectured for 21 years for the Open University and History of Art A level for MPW London and has written a definitive survey of Romanesque Art, translated into French, German and Chinese, recommended for many university course book lists and on BBC and Metropolitan Museum websites. He has made a major contribution to the study of colour in medieval manuscripts, publishing nine articles/book chapters plus giving papers at international conferences in this field, with a book in preparation on colour and meaning in medieval art. Currently he is researching the study of stained glass in the eighteenth century and the relation of Romanesque art to Modernist art in Britain especially that of Henry Moore.
