A distinguished retired judge, and a still active barrister in private practice, Mr Cousins has brought his sharp legal mind to a number of areas of law rich in historical significance and relevance. He was previously the Principal Judge of the Land Registration Division of the Property Chamber and a Chancery Barrister in Lincoln’s Inn. He has a deep and abiding interest in the legal, historical, cultural, and social significance of English and Welsh land law and property law, and from the 1980s, Mr Cousins became a specialist in the law of markets and fairs, both as practitioner and author. For almost forty years he has been the editor of 'Pease and Chitty: Law of Markets and Fairs'. Mr Cousins is, furthermore, an expert in the Law of Commons and Greens and is author of 'Gadsden and Cousins: Commons and Greens', (third edition, 2020). Mr Cousins also is the author of 'Cousins on Mortgages', 2017.
