Grounds for election
Dr Peter Hommel is an established expert in early ceramic technologies, technological transmission & sociotechnological landscapes. His research and teaching focusses on materials science and the archaeology of mobile societies. He has two decades of field experience in the UK, France, Japan, Mongolia and Russia. Dr Hommel’s work combines traditional archaeological research with biomolecular, environmental & materials science—an integrated approach that enables him to explore the tangled histories of places, individuals, objects, & materials, challenging preconceptions about nomadic societies and their role in global history. His grants, awards and publications—35 articles (since 2014), two edited volumes and two substantial translations—confirm both his academic credentials and his commitment to equitable international partnerships. Dr Hommel has a strong record of civic responsibility & schools engagement, and has been repeatedly selected by his peers as an official representative.
