Ken Welsh is Chief Executive of Oxford Archaeology. After graduating from Lancaster University in 1986, he worked for several major archaeological companies before joining OA in 1995. As Project Manager he undertook many key projects in southern England, especially in the Thames Valley, such as at Perry Oaks, Heathrow Terminal 5 and Horcott Quarry, Gloucestershire, and was a lead author on the publication of many of these. As OA South Regional Manager, Ken was responsible for the successful running of the Oxford office. He led on the welfare and wellbeing of staff, championing approaches to mental health and stress management. As Digital Development lead, he had responsibility for managing the development of digital solutions in areas including archaeological recording and analysis. Ken took up his present role in 2021. As CEO, Ken is responsible to the Board of Trustees of Oxford Archaeology Ltd, a registered charity, for the leadership and effective operation of the business.
