Grounds for election

Dr. Richard Goddard is an independent scholar with interests ranging from troubadours to early engravers of antiquities. His DPhil, exploring ‘The Early Troubadours and the Latin Tradition’ was awarded by the University of Oxford in 1985 and published by Maastricht University Press in 2018. He has published articles on troubadours in Neuphilologische Mitteilungen, Reading Medieval Studies and Romanistische Zeitschrift für Literaturgeschichte, Sonderdruck. A descendent of the Basire family of engravers, his book, ‘Drawing on Copper’. The Basire Family of Copper-Plate Engravers and their Works was published by Maastricht University Press in 2016. It was followed by Charles Grignion. History Engraver (1721-1810). His Life and Works, published by Global Academic Press in 2022. He is a contributor to Vetusta Monumenta: Ancient Monuments, a digital edition (University of Missouri, ongoing) and is currently preparing a monograph on French immigrant engravers in eighteenth century London.
