Grounds for election
Michael is the author of Edward I’s Regent: Edmund of Cornwall, The Man Behind England’s Greatest King (Pen & Sword History, 2022). He has had two papers published in the Thirteenth Century England series, and articles in journals, eg The Antiquaries Journal, Historical Research, and three entries in the ODNB; plus over 30 papers uploaded to the Academia website. He has given papers at the Thirteenth Century England Conference, the International Medieval Congress, The National Archives, and the Institute of Historical Research, as well as the Sussex Archaeological Society.
He has had a practical involvement in discovering the physical remains of the past, belonging to two archaeological societies for many years and being involved in a variety of digs.
He has a strong desire to involve members of the public in understanding our past, having been Chairman or a trustee of heritage societies, and contributing to web sites and blogs such as those for the Henry III Fine Rolls Project.
