Eleanor has worked with ancient coins at the British Museum since 2007 and since 2017 has held the post of Curator: Iron Age and Roman Coin Hoards, cataloguing and researching hoards for the Treasure process. She was a researcher for an AHRC project updating the known corpus of hoards from Britain, and a co-author of the resultant major publication (Bland et al. 2020). She was curator of the exhibition `Hoards: The Hidden History of Ancient Britain' at the British Museum in 2015-6 which then toured five UK venues in 2018-19. The accompanying book Hoards: Hidden History won the Royal Numismatic Society Lhotka Memorial Prize in 2016. She is a Trustee of the Roman Research Trust and has served on the council of the British Numismatic Society. Prior to joining the Museum Eleanor worked as a finds specialist for the Portable Antiquities Scheme and on excavations in Britain and abroad, and carried out research into roundhouses in Wales. Her doctorate was on Gallo-Roman temple sites.
