She was awarded the AA Dahlberg Prize, and received Wenner Gren funding for her doctoral thesis on early life health in post-medieval London. She is a Scientific Associate at the Natural History Museum London, and is currently Co-I on the ‘Radical Death’ AHRC-funded research project at UCL. This project investigates burials from the Early Bronze Age site of Başur Höyük, Turkey, where she led the biological anthropology team. She also directs fieldwork at the Pre-Pottery Neolithic site of Balıklı, central Anatolia, and on the Emporio Hinterland Project, Chios, Greece. She makes a substantial contribution to science communication through her work on the TrowelBlazers Project, an archive of women in the ‘digging’ sciences’, and through her popular books, including the Times ‘Top 10 of 2017’ Science book 'Built on Bones', and her latest 'Growing Up Human'.
