Grounds for election
Dr Emlyn Dodd FRHistS was appointed Assistant Director for Archaeology at the British School at Rome (BSR) in 2021 and on the 1 May 2023 will take up the position of Lecturer in Classical Studies at the Institute for Classical Studies, School of Advanced Study, University of London. He is a Research Affiliate of the Australian Archaeological Institute at Athens. Dr Dodd is a leading scholar in the archaeology of wine and olive oil production in Roman and pre-Roman Italy and has published widely on the subject including the monograph of his PhD 'Roman and Late Antique wine production in the eastern Mediterranean' (Archaeopress, Oxford, 2020). As part of his current research, he is co-director of the ‘Falerii Novi Project’ led by the BSR and universities of Harvard and Toronto. He is the author of numerous single authored journal articles on Roman viticulture and has organised several major conferences on vine growing and winemaking in the Roman world, now in press.
