Joe Gromacki is an active patron of the arts, serving on the boards of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Terra Foundation for American Art, the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Layton Art Collection, the Richard Driehaus Museum, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, Historic Deerfield, the Chipstone Foundation, and several other museums and arts organisations. Additionally, he is a member of the Trustees Council of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
An ardent preservationist, Joe is a member of the National Trust Council, a supporting organisation for the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Gromacki also is involved with organisations supporting horticulture, botany, and plant science. He serves on the board of the Chicago Botanic Garden and the Kew Foundation Council, which supports the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
He is an informed, antiquarian collector, focusing on 17th- and 18th-century America.
